This copy has been re-backed using burgundy cloth while preserving the original back strip so the joints are strong. Elaborate gilt decoration on spine and covers as well. All edge gilt. Inside there are hundreds of black and white illustrations and 12 beautiful chromolithographs- one being a 2 page map, plus number 11 which is uncolored. Overall, a very good copy or better copy of this extensively illustrated work. This copy appears to have a deluxe binding compared to many other copies available. Very Good / No Jacket. Item #2321
