First Edition. quarter vellum. folio, bound in quarter vellum but covers detached and heavily worn and soiled, old ink signature on title page, foxing on nearly all pages varying from heavy to light with text pages at front being heavy and majority of plates being little foxing- even very little. Some spotting affects 4 of the plates themselves or very close to the printed plate. 2 plate of the 100 expected are missing- nrs. 2 and 3- Eve brought to Adam and Conviction of Adam. There are damp stains to nearly all pages emanating from the lower left and lower right covers. These damp stains do not affect the plate printed areas but near the back of the book they come to 3-4cm away. The printed images are very impressive high quality copperplate engraved image from the period. Pictures shown examples of the plates where foxing is close to or touch an image and others in better condition. No flash was used in the picture so there are shadows that need to be ignored. Sold as a collection of high quality early 19th century copper plate engravings by the same people who did Boydell's Shakespeare. 98 of 100 plates present.
