Paris: V. Levasseur, 1866. First Edition. Hardcover. elephant folio, quarter bound in dark red morocco with dark red paper covered boards, gilt decoration to backstrip. Covers moderately worn from use, ink stamp on back of title page. Contents generally very good with beautiful b&w engravings surrounding all of the hand colored maps. Colors a bit pale, but each map is very striking- a beautifully produced work. Text in French. there is a small paper ad for this volume pasted on the front free endpaper. There is soiling around the edges of the pages. This is heavy on the title page but much lighter on subsequent pages but still there id darkening around the edges of the pages. A couple of smudges are noted on other pages but not affecting the printed areas. There is no list of plates, but 101 were counted. Overall, contents are very good perhaps a bit better and experior is good perhaps a bit less than good. Note: due to size and weight shipping outside the USA or priority shipping will be more expensive than an average book. Good. Item #3338
