Vat Colors on Spun Silk ( GDC 72)

Cloth. octavo bound in original purple cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on covers and back strip, about half of the lettering is worn off, inside is a booklet pasted to the front pastedown in,English. Booklet has 8 pages. The bulk of the book is a fold out set of pages containing 126 spectacularly colored samples of silk thread. The book has the number "G.D.C. 72" in a couple places. This is probably the catalog number. There is no date noted in the book. A guess is 1940. Like many companies they had a somewhat complex history. The Company had parts with early roots in the U.S. but I. G Farben was formed in 1925 and split up in 1951, so this catalog dates from that period and was printed in Germany. Overall very good or better copy with light soiling and some finger prints. Very good +. Item #4146
