The Traveller's Oracle containing Maxims for Promoting the Pleasures and Hints for Preserving the Health of Travelers (2 vols.)

London: Henry Colburn, 1827. Second Edition. Hardcover. 16mo, bound in early black half leather with marbled paper covered boards. Professionally rebacked retaining the gilt deocated backstrips.Marbled paper heavily worn. The 2 volumes are uniformly bound. contents are generally very good but paper is age toned and those near pages of music are more heavily browned. Overall, a very good to near fine copy, but with faults noted. pp. viii, 264 and viii, 336 plus unnumbered pages of songs with music. A scarce work with lots of insights into the intricacies of travel at the time. The songs are for one, two or three voices. The edition is not stated but the description in the advertisement suggests this is the second edition revised from the first and published the same year. Overall a good set of these unusual 2 volumes. Good. Item #4630
