Hardcover. 8vo, ca. 5.5" x 8" pp. xii, 320 and vi, 338 for the 2 volumes, bound in original blright red cloth covered boards with elaborate gilt decoration, light wear from use, top edge gilt, contents lightly age toned, but generally near fine. Folding map at back of vol. 2 near fine as well. Heavy red cloth dust jackets near fine except exposed spine edge a bit faded. All illustrations called for are present and in fine condition. The last chapter is on Ceylon. No owner names or bookplates noted inside. Dust jackets very good to near fine. Volumes have their original slip case that is a bit faded, but very good or better.
