Hardcover. thick 12mo, bound in black cloth covered stiff card covers that are heavily worn on bottom edge and moderately worn otherwise, front cover hinge is fragile, but still holding, back hinge sound not quite good. Contents very good or better, but paper age toned, pp. xxxvi, 480 and [4], 511 plus adverts at back. Ink names of two people on front free endpaper, Pencil initials of early owner on half title page- no other names or bookplates noted. According to bookseller adverts at back, this was also issued in 2 volumes. Edition is not stated, but first edition appears to have been 1878, so it is second or later. Note, due to size and weight, shipping outside the USA may be less expensive than an average book. Good. Item #4949
