Tokyo: Cabinet Imperial, 1904. First Edition. Hardcover. tall octavo, bound in original light blue paper covered boards with heavy wear and early owner ink name on cover. The name is Dr. Albert Leffingwell. Contents are very good, but much age darkened in a few cases. Text is in French and in Japanese. There 1 folding map with very nice color. Overall, a good copy. At the front is pasted a short letter- in French- from the head of the Bureau to Dr. Leffingwell just indicating delivery of the book. Dr. Leffingwell was a President of the American Humane Society and a critic of cruelty to animals especially when used for medical studies. His Son later became a novelist. In an earlier issue of the Resume it was stated that he has visited Japan and wanted to use some of the information in a eport on his trip. Good. Item #5193
