Hardcover. tall quarto/ short folio, ca. 9.5" x 12.5", 4 volumes - 3 original volumes uniformly bound in purple cloth covered boards. Vol. 4 - published later is bound in a similar, but not identical purple cloth. Vols. 1-3 were issued together in a slipcase that is present here- slipcase still mostly covered by original plastic wrap and case in near fine condition. All 4 bindings are near fine- maybe fine, contents near fine to fine. Volume 1 covers Historical introduction and description of the Mosaics and Frescoes, Volume 2 covers the Mosaics with Plates 1- 334, Volume 3 covers the Frescoes with Plates 335 -553. Volume 4 covers Studies in the Art of the Kariye Djami and Its Intellectual Background. Vol. 4 , pp. xvii, 370 plus 54 figures on multiple page plus 63 figures on multiple pages, plus 35 figures on mutiple pages plus 19 figures on multiple pages plus 12 figures of plans and sections and was published by Routledge & Kegan Paul in London in 1975 with Underwood as editor and 6 others as co-authors. No names of earlier owners or bookplates noted inside. The dustjackets for all 4 volumes are present and very good to near fine condition. The jacket for Vol. 4 is different from the other 3 vols. and has a bit more wear. There are some brown spots on the top edge and foredge of vol. 4 - it has not be kept in a slipcase like the first 3 vols. Overall, a near fine set. Note: due to size and weight, shipping outside the USA will cost significantly more than an average book. Near fine / very good - near fine. Item #6378
