Enosburgh or Sheldon Vermont account book for Shoe and Boot maker and leather worker 1824-1837

Enosburgh: Dexter Gilbert, 1824. First Edition. Hardcover. Narrow folio handwritten account book, quarter bound in brown leather, heavily worn, paper age darkened, a few pages loose. One of a kind item - an account book for shoe, boot, leather repairs all hand written in ink. Indentification of Dexter Gilbert is uncertain and based on his name being written in many places along with Enosburgh and and Sheldon Vermont . ca. 150 pages, afew are loose, paper torn out in a couple places, but overall it appears to be a more or less continuous chronological account of business with hundreds of names. Some research mentions that Dexter Gilbert lived to 90 years or older and had five or six brothers, at least one of whom became a minister. The name James Gilbert appears in the book. An interesting collection of information about life in this period. Overall condition as a book is fair, but most of the entries are legible with a little practice and can be considered good. Good.
