Philadelphia: Kimber & Richardson, 1815. Half morocco. octavo, bound in half red morocco with marbled paper covered boards with moderately heavy wear, number 4 is on backstrip - presumably, this was bound by an early owner as the 4th volume in a set of some sort, contents heavily faged darkened and moderately foxed, but quite legible, some plates with heavier wear, Ink writing of an early owner on the back free endpapers, pencil description of book contents written by an earlier bookseller written on front pastedown. pp.434 there are 12 copper plate engraving of steam engines, 3 are folding. Some of the articles are dated 1813, though the title page is dated 1815, so this may be an early reprint or second edition. Most of this volume is dedicated to the state of the art and science of Steam Engines, but there is also an article on Political Economy, a large section on "statistics" - i.e. numbers about all sorts of things and there is a small section of miscellaneous items about wines and raisins ond other things.
