Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1863. First Edition. Hardcover. octavo, 2 volumes, 708 and 632 plus 15 plate and 3 pages of errata, uniformly half bound in early brown calf with cloth covered boards. Leather has cracks and moderate wear, but binding still sound. All exposed paper edges are red. There is remnant of some sort of tape on the front free endpapers of both volumes- these may have held a bookplate at one time. Contents very good to near fine- apparently the books were carefully used, except that one folding plate is torn in two along one fold, but without loss of paper. Overall, covers good, contents near fine. Note: due to size and weight, shipping outside the USA or priority shipping will probably be more expensive than an average book. Good. Item #8226
