Dupatta or Shawl ca. 68" x 82" with bhandini patterns and bright color as well as embroidered patterns

Gujurat: 1960. one of a kind. This is a shawl or dupatta made from 2 pieces of cotton sewn together to make a wider shawl it has been dyed to produce indigo orange, yellow, magenta areas also using bhandini process to interest to item as a whole. In addition, embroidered patterns- mainly flowers- have been added at various places around the shawl. These have been somewhat randomly placed making it even more interesting to examine. The embroidery uses several colors of thread as well what is likely- silver or "zari" there may be some gold thread as well. The pieces measures ca. 68" x 82"- but it can be stretched or not - making the size imprecise. No significant stains observed but some could exist. Overall , a colorful item with lots of fascinating work to dye and embroider it as well. Hand made and unique. It is like from western India, probably Gujarat. There is no date, estimate 1960, but could be older or newer. ( 90021) Note that shipping outside the USA will be ca. $39, but insurance will cost more. Very good. Item #90021
